ChatGPT Self-Descriptions & User Memory Improved…!
I use ChatGPT for basically everything (and as previously noted, I’m a Plus user – i.e. I pay $20/month! Today, when I opened the app, I was created with the following in-app announcement:
“ChatGPT Announcement; Introducing new, improved memory. ChatGPT now remembers more of your past chats, so you won’t need to repeat yourself as often. Want to change what it knows about you? Just ask. Learn more”
Previously, ChatGPT regularly updated its knowledge base using information users disclosed, but it wasn’t a feature they really promoted. Anyways, I decided to check it out and clicked “Show me”. This the unfolded:
It auto-populated the following prompt:
ChatGPT Auto Prompt: “Describe me based on all our chats – make it catchy!”
And this was what it generated:
ChatGPT Response: “Sure, here’s a catchy take on you, Kinsey: Kinsey Kiriakos: The Swiss Army Knife of Comms Part Emmy-nominated producer, part Capitol Hill veteran, and part laser-wielding Etsy entrepreneur, Kinsey is a strategic comms powerhouse…and a low-key sense of humor. He’s the kind of guy who can write a crisis memo, design a killer infographic, charm a senior official, and still make it to the dog park with Annie before dinner. Equally at home advising generals or cracking wise on dating apps, Kinsey blends sharp instincts, creative flair, and a deep policy brain. He’s been a fixer in the federal trenches, a storyteller in the newsroom, and a maker in the workshop-because for him, communication isn’t just a job. It’s a craft. Want a shorter version, a Linkedin bio, or a dating app version next?”
Pretty damn accurate, minus the Etsy mention (a thing of the past) and the disclosure of some sensitive information. But impressive, and it allowed me to finally fill out the about section of this site…!
